Ongoing Classes & Programs

Throughout the year, Center for the Healing Arts offers workshops and programs for massage therapists, health professionals and people interested in learning alternative choices for health. Our class schedule is published in January for the entire year.

Many of our classes are geared for the general public who have an interest in learning about becoming healthier using naturall methods or supplements to compliment their health regime.  Since 1990, alternative or “complimentary” medicine has been growing by an enormous rate. According to the American Medical Association, more people are visiting alternative therapies than the traditional medical visits. Our goal is to inform you about the benefits and cautions of alternative medicine and its many facets of practice. Massage Thera[y care is on the top ten of accepted complimentary choices, especially designed for stress relief, which is the cause of 90% of illness. Please call ahead to reserve your spot. Unless specified there is a minimum of 6 people required to hold all classes, even if the class is offered at no charge, registration is still required.

Title:"Massage Your Business" workshop

"Follow a successful person to be successful"
Date: February 11 & 12  2012
Fee: $75  per person

Join Charlotte Irwin in a weekend of creative and successful strategies she has used to create one of the largest holistic health center in Michigan.  Learn key strategies how to build your business and keep it going. The center has been in business for 20 years and keeps on growing!

Cost of Class $ $75 includes her business book "Massage Your Business" with Purpose, Passion and Perseverance while creating profits

Couples Massage Class (Great date night for Valentine Day or Sweetest Day weekend)  $49 a person
Learn how to give a one hour relaxation massage to your family, freinds or  partners.

Valentine Day, Sunday, Tuesday February 14th, 2012   6-10 PM  or Sweetest Day Friday October 19th, 2012 6-10 PM 

New reflexology monthly program starts April 21-22.  The first weekend is an introductory class and can be taken individually to help family and freinds or the start to obtain  a reflexology certification as a professional career in our 6 weekend course of a 150 hour program. The course is offered as  intensive training every other weekend or a once a month format.  Call 586-268-5444 to register. A $150 deposit is required to register for class.

Title: Lomi Lomi Massage Class with Charlotte Irwin
Date: Sunday February 26 or Sunday August 5  2012
Fee: $75

In this class you will learn:

• To apply Lomi massage techniques and integrate it with your current practice of massage to elevate your experience with your clients.
• Learn the names of bones in Hawaiian and its esoteric meaning
• Learn how to activate the organs and energy centers of the body

Charlotte Irwin studied in Hawaii ongoing for 8 years and has over 2000 hours in the study of Lomi massage. She has practiced Lomi for the last 20 years.

Date:  Sunday March 25, 2012
Fee: $75 includes take home gifts and manual

In this class you will learn:

• What are the common essential oils we can use safely?
  How to blend oils
  What is in the oils that make it work medicinally?
  What to look for when buying essential oils
