Here are a few herbal remedies that may help with dry skin. These are suggestions and not meant as a substitute for medical care but as a adjunct to help the bodies natural curative forces go to work. Always research and/or check with your physician regarding complimentary approaches and always spot check on your skin for allergies.

Dry skin refers to skin that lacks oil. It can improve with active ingredients that stimulate skin functions, increase oil gland activity and keep skin hydrated. Dry skin has a greater tendency to dehydration than normal skin. Avocado, macadamia, apricot kernel and carrot oil are excellent moisture barrier protectors for dry skin. Among many other ingredients that will help dry skin are dandelion, calendula, iris, sesame and wheat germ oil.

Apricot oil is a premium oil for your dry skin. Apricot oil belongs to the Rosaceae family. Apricot kernel is rich in B-17 and vitamin A and has unsurpassed skin softening elements. It has a high content of OLEIC ACID (65%). Oleic acid is the property that helps assist in the absorption of essential oil through the skin.
Borage oil is a great facial oil and help wrinkles because of its high content of GLA (Gamolenic Acid), the bonded fatty acids components of Borage are said to defer wrinkling. Remember to purchase oil that reads Unrefined. Cold Pressed Process, Organic on the label to ensure high quality oil for your skin and oil that is rich in vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Cold Pressed oils contain the "right" fat for your body.
Aloe has been used since ancient Egyptian times for problem skin. Taken internally it also helps with stomach ailments. Aloe is called the oil of regeneration. It is indigenous to East and South Africa. It rejuvenates the skin and improves wrinkles. Legend had it Cleopatra used it to maintain her beauty.

Reflexology:
Stimulate the whole bottom of your foot to help improve circulation and help with dry skin. Push in with your thumb and inch along the foot while pressing in.

Try a sea salt skin cleanse to exfoliate the dead skin cells from your skin. Mix 2 oz of sea salt with 3 oz of sunflower or apricot oil. If you desire warm oil, let container stand in hot water for a few minutes. Rub in small circles over entire skin area. Avoid face. Shower off. Skin feels like velvet!!! We do carry Cold pressed Apricot and Sunflower. 

Aromatic Body Scrub

  • 1/4 cup sea salt
  • 1/4 cup med ground cornmeal
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 10 drops your favorite essential oil

Mix sea salt and cornmeal together, combine warm olive oil and essential together and mix to from a paste like consistency. Standing in shower, do circular motion on skin working toward the body center. Rinse completely off with warm water. Your skin will feel smoother and have a healthy glow!
